WORLD WIDE WEB COMMUNICATIONS CHOSEN BY GOOGLE AS “FAVORITE PLACE” IN NEW MARKETING PROGRAM

CHERRY HILL, NJ March 16, 2010 - Google recently launched a new marketing program that combines popular searches for local businesses with a real-world window decal marketing program.  As one of the top 100,000 most popular locally listed businesses in the US, WWWC has been chosen to have one of the first window decals for this revolutionary new strategy.

The Google window decal resembles the bold, recognizable icon used on Google Maps.  The phrase “We’re a Favorite Place on Google” appears in large letters on the decal along with a QR code, which has a similar appearance of a bar code and can be scanned using cell phone cameras.

The application necessary to scan the black and white code box is called a QR code reader and is available for download from Google.  A simple photo of the code box, along with the appropriate application, takes the user to the company’s Place Page where viewers can read reviews from other users, find coupons for the business, flag or star the business for future reference or leave immediate reviews.

In order to launch this revolutionary program, Google has chosen the most popular 100,000 local businesses online.  Their popularity, mixed with Google’s brand of marketing and scannable links, creates an ideal way for businesses like WWWC to combine existing marketing with unique ways to reach new customers.

This link between physical stores and online profiles is an important step in Google’s progressive strides towards creating the ideal business world for all types of companies.   And WWWC is privileged to be a part of Google’s powerful new marketing tool, giving WWWC an opportunity to engage existing customers and market services to entirely new clientele.

CHAMBER WEB SITE GOES ‘BIG LEAGUE’

June 16th, 2010

Web site rating services now place the Chamber Web Site among the elite…world wide.

  • Alexa - rates our site traffic in the top 6.7% World Wide.
  • Web Grader - rating over 2 million sites on a scale of 1 to 100, rates us at 84%.
  • Google - on their scale of 1 to 10, rates us a 5. Their pricing model rates a text link on our site as a $50/month value.

Much credit for this goes to our web design and host company World Wide Web Communications.  Another significant factor in our positioning was the introduction of our new, privately designed, Regional Business Directory-On Line.

The new Directory features are unique among chambers of commerce and business organizations:

  • Members now log on, manage their own listings and upload their corporate logo.
  • Each member has the option of listing in as many as 3 business categories.
  • Each listing offers a full page display with company logo, Google map to the member location, V-card, links to favorites and link to member web site.

V-card, links to favorites and link to member web site.

In the first 2 months since we introduced the new Directory it has had thousands of hits and hundreds of first time visitors weekly. These improvements add up to increased visibility, exposure on the internet and added value for our members.  According to Google’s pricing standards, the web site listing alone is worth several hundred dollars a year more than the total cost of membership for most companies.

Members can log on for the first time using the temporary username of their email address and the temporary password ‘changeyourpasswordnow’.  Dawn Toal, our Member Services Representative can assist you with any questions (856-667-1600 x301, dawn@camdencountychamber.com).

This great new value for members was a significant investment in time and resources for the Chamber.  Regardless of the recessionary pressures of the past two years we are proud to bring this value to you for a modest change in your former ‘Annual Internet Maintenance Fee’. The new Regional Business Directory Annual Investment of $50 will be assessed for all renewing members as of September 1, 2010 and for all new members beginning July 1, 2010.  The Chamber is also proud that our basic annual membership fee has not changed for 10 years.

We hope you enjoy the benefits of your new position on the World Wide Web.

December 23rd, 2009

Maple Shade, NJ - (December 9, 2009) - Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey & Philadelphia was recently awarded a $13,185 grant from The Boeing Company Charitable Trust.  Specifically, the grant monies will be used to purchase necessary supplies and equipment that will enable Goodwill to begin selling gently-used donated books online.

Goodwill’s E-Books is a new business line that will be operated by participants in Goodwill’s Ex-Offender Re-entry Program as a means of preparing them for competitive employment in the community.  Gently-used books donated to Goodwill will be scanned and categorized by participants and then sold online.  Beyond building a resume, all participants will be paid for their work.  E-Books is yet another way that Goodwill fulfills its charitable mission of putting people to work while simultaneously contributing to America’s recycling efforts.

This grant was made possible by Boeing’s Global Corporate Citizenship function, which  promotes the development of vibrant communities with citizens who are educated, creative, civic minded, environmentally conscious, healthy and economically self-sustained.

“We are thankful to The Boeing Company Charitable Trust for their investment in Goodwill,” said Goodwill President & CEO Mark B. Boyd.  “Goodwill is an entrepreneurial-minded nonprofit. Through Goodwill’s E-Books Program, we are generating revenues to support our mission, employing individuals faced with barriers to employment, and effectively recycling books and putting them into the hands of people who want them.”

A nonprofit, community-based organization, Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey & Philadelphia’s mission is to put people with special needs to work.  The mass collection and resale of donated goods in Goodwill’s 18 area retail stores fund high caliber job training programs and career services while simultaneously contributing to America’s recycling efforts.  For more information on Goodwill, please visit www.goodwillnj.org or call 856/439-0200.
