Dear Business Leader-
Last week, Congressman Adler voted for two important bills aimed at helping small businesses. To create new jobs on Main Street, the House passed two bills to expand much needed lending to small businesses and offer tax incentives to help small businesses grow, hire, and fuel our economy - which are fully paid for and don’t add a single cent to the national debt.

The Small Business Jobs and Credit Act is aimed directly at injecting more capital into our banking system expressly for small businesses. This bill creates a $30 billion Small Business Lending Fund that small and community banks could access solely for the purpose of providing loans to small businesses. One of the main complaints of small businesses is that in the tough economy it is often difficult to get a loan. This bill is intended to help unfreeze capital markets and provide access for small businesses to expand and create jobs.

The Small Business Jobs Tax Relief Act contains several tax cuts aimed at spurring the creation and development of small businesses. This bill’s two main provisions should spur investment in small businesses and should make it easier for individuals to form a new start-up. The bill Increases the capital gains tax cut for those who invest in small businesses this year. The bill would exclude 100% of capital gain income for stock in small businesses purchased from March 15, 2010 to January 1, 2011. Secondly, the bill increases to $20,000 (from $5,000 in current law) the deduction for start-up expenditures in connection with investigating the creation of a business (but not capital or equipment), and allows more businesses to qualify for the maximum deduction. By allowing entrepreneurs to recover more start-up expenses, small business owners can focus more on hiring new workers and growing their businesses.

Congressman Adler knows that small businesses are the backbone of our economy. If we want to get our economy moving again and create jobs, we need to give our small businesses the tools they need to succeed and grow.

Deptford, NJ - (June 2010) - South Jersey Federal Credit Union (SJFCU) is the proud recipient of a 2010 “New Good Neighbor Award” from the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA).SJFCU was recognized for its new Corporate Center, which opened in the third quarter of 2009.
The award was presented at a special luncheon held June 4 in Edison.

The Good Neighbor Awards, in their 50th year, are given in recognition of businesses which contribute to the economic value of their communities by constructing new buildings or investing in capital improvement projects. A distinguished panel of judges for the awards represented a wide variety of state organizations that share an interest in New Jersey’s growth and development. The panel considered each nominee on the basis of economic benefits/job creation, architectural merit and community involvement. There were a total of 50 nominees from throughout the state, and the panel selected only 14 for awards.

Out of the 14 awardees, South Jersey Federal Credit Union
was the only award recipient located in South Jersey. All the other
recipients are from the central or northern parts of the state.

The new SJFCU Corporate Center was built to allow the credit union to expand its call center and training facilities, and to house the human resources, business development, marketing, research and audit departments, as well as administrative offices. The 30,000-square-foot site was constructed following the environmentally-sound benchmark guidelines of the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. The site was designed by R2Architects of Voorhees and built by IMC Construction of Malvern, Pa.

According to information in the June issue of New Jersey Business, NJBIA honors projects “that have created jobs, generated new local tax revenues and improved the quality of life in their communities. The goal of the New Good Neighbor Awards is to highlight the many positive contributions businesses make to the economy and to the state.”

transportation options for employees and mall patrons.

MOORESTOWN, NJ. - July 21, 2010 - Moorestown Mall is now a recognized New Jersey Smart Workplaces bronze level recipient. The prestigious New Jersey Smart Workplaces award honors places of business for the creation of programs that provide and promote commuting options for employees. For Moorestown Mall and Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT), the award represents a partnership with the local Transportation Management Association (TMA) that promotes commuter service for mall employees and shoppers.
“We are proud to offer the convenience of commuter options to Moorestown Mall employees and shoppers. Not only is this a benefit to our employees and patrons in terms of convenience, but it helps to ease local traffic patterns and is also a great asset to the environment,” says Moorestown Mall Senior Marketing Director Lisa Wolstromer.
New Jersey Smart Workplaces, sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, honored Moorestown Mall’s efforts for hosting commuter venues at the property with a community table, designating bus schedule postings at the customer service desk and having customer service representatives on site as a daily point of contact for basic commute information. This year, over 450 New Jersey workplaces were honored for taking an initiative to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality through work-site based employee community transportation options.
Moorestown Mall is owned and managed by Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT). PREIT, founded in 1960 and one of the first equity REITs in the U.S., has a primary investment focus on retail shopping malls and community centers. Currently, the Company’s portfolio consists of 54 retail properties including 38 shopping malls, 13 community centers, and three properties under development. The Company’s properties are located in the eastern half of the United States, primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region. PREIT is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Company’s website can be found at www.preit.com. PREIT is publicly traded on the NYSE under the symbol PEI.
